Behind Inner Wolves

Why I created
Inner Wolves.

Personality theory changed the way I understood myself.

When I first discovered my own personality preferences, it gave me language for patterns I had struggled to explain for years. That experience was genuinely liberating, and it eventually became part of a professional journey that has taken me through more than 25 years of working with personality, leadership and human development.

But after spending more than a decade teaching personality professionally, I began noticing something that troubled me. People were increasingly turning their preferences into identities. Somewhere along the way, “I have a preference for…” became “This is who I am,” and a framework intended to expand self-understanding could quietly become a boundary to further growth.

I began wondering whether there was another way to think about personality: one that recognised our natural strengths without allowing them to define the limits of who we could become.

That question eventually led me to create Inner Wolves.

Drawing inspiration from Jungian psychology, Inner Wolves explores eight psychological forces that we all carry within us. Some are familiar and well-developed, while others remain quieter, waiting for opportunities to contribute.

My hope is that Inner Wolves helps people understand themselves with greater compassion, recognise when their familiar strengths may no longer serve them, and develop the flexibility to respond differently when life asks something more of them.

Because I believe the real value of self-understanding lies in what we become capable of doing with it.
